Fun on the River Yealm

We were really lucky to have some fantastic weather in April so we made the most of it by going away most weekends on the boat.

One particular weekend we went over to the Yealm. We picked the kids up from school on Friday and we went straight down to the boat. We spent the evening on our mooring and put our new bbq to the test.

It’s a camping BBQ and runs on mini gas canisters. It’s not too big so it’s perfect for the boat.

BBQ on the boat

On Saturday morning we left fairly early on the dropping tide. It took an hour and a half from Saltash.

We picked up a swinging mooring and walked up to Newton Ferrers to get supplies. We got our meat from the butchers with the intention of having another bbq on the boat that evening. As well as our meat we also got some of the tastiest scotch eggs I think I’ve ever had! Food makes me happy.

Later that afternoon we walked up to Noss Mayo and sat outside The Swan Inn. It’s under new ownership again and we were curious to see what their offering was like. The staff were very friendly and they seemed to have lots of exciting plans for the pub.

When we got back to the boat the kiddies grabbed their wetsuits and went for a swim. They must have been freezing but that didn’t deter them.

After a fairly overcast day, the sun decided to come out in the evening. It was lovely sitting up on the deck watching the various water activities.

On Sunday morning we headed back to Saltash, again it took an hour and a half.
