Last weekend we had some fantastic weather. The sun was shining and it was very hot. We decided to head over to the Yealm on Saturday with the intention of stopping off at Cellar Bay so the kiddies could have a swim in the sea.
Cellar Bay (Cellar Beach)
Cellar Bay is located at the entrance to the River Yealm. You can access it by land but it’s a bit of a mission. You walk along the South West Coast Path and it is over 2km long.
It’s far easier to either pick up a mooring in the Yealm and dinghy over or drop your hook right in the bay.
It was fairly busy there but that was to be expected because of the great weather. We set up camp on the beach and watched the kids cool off in the water.
You really could have been anywhere in the world!
The kids enjoyed exploring the caves on the beach.
Once we had all had enough sun we hopped back in the dinghy to the River Yealm Harbour Authority pontoon and walked up to Newton Ferrers to have supper at The Dolphin Inn. I had a very tasty Cajun chicken burger.
Afterwards, we bought ice creams at the Coop to walk back with.
We had planned to spend the night moored in the Yealm but we decided to go back to our home mooring instead. We got to watch the sunset over Plymouth on the way back, which was lovely!
